Privacy Policy for dun

This Privacy Policy explains how Manuel Fessen (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles your information when you use the dun application and its keyboard extension (“App”, “dun”).

1. No Tracking

We do not track you across apps or websites. The App does not include advertising SDKs or third-party analytics that identify you.

2. On-Device Speech Processing

dun is built for on-device speech-to-text:

Audio for dictation is processed on your iPhone for transcription.
Speech recognition runs locally after you download a speech model (one-time download may use the network).
Optional writing-style polish and translation use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models when available on your device.
We do not upload your voice to our servers for transcription, and we do not use your speech to train cloud models.

3. Microphone

The microphone is used only while you are actively dictating (or pausing within an active session). When you stop or cancel, listening ends. The system orange microphone indicator reflects an active audio session.

4. What We Never Do

No screenshots or screen-context capture for “tone” or personalization
No cloud STT pipeline operated by us
No sale of your voice or transcripts

5. Full Access (Keyboard)

iOS requires Allow Full Access so the keyboard can coordinate with the main App (App Group) and insert transcribed text. Full Access does not mean we read other apps’ screens or send your audio to our servers.

6. Data Stored on Your Device

Preferences, downloaded speech models, and optional local transcription history stay on your device (and in the shared App Group container used by dun). You can delete the App to remove this data.

7. Network Use

Network access may be used to:

Download speech models the first time (or when you change models)
Open support or policy links you choose

Dictation itself does not require sending audio to us.

Because we do not collect personal account data for dun, there is typically no personal data held by us to access, rectify, erase, or export. Device-local data is under your control via iOS Settings and by deleting the App.

9. Changes to This Policy

If how dun handles data changes, we will update this policy.
